Hello and welcome back to manda's challenges xxx
A huge welcome to all new followers, great to have you here hope i don't dissapoint you xx
It's been a while hasn't it?
oh boy have i been busy , running up and down hospital, (specialist one far too far for my liking but hey ho) work work and more work and a wee bit of charitable goodness ahhhh
Now i know you may have already seen the following pics elsewhere but i'd like to share them here too :0)
The fabulous squares i made and sent off to Sue to be made into the most gorgeous blankets for the eldery :)
Aww,
want to see them close up? sure you do hehe
ahh that's better :)
For those unaware these get made into beautiful blankets then distributed to nursing homes for those that don't get many visitors or for a special occasion or even for newly arrived people :) you can read more about it here A few have already flown the nest and more are destined to go to their new owners soon xx
Such beautiful posts about it all over on the blog now do take a peep Sue would be absolutely over the moon if you leave a comment she really is the queen of Sibol and we all salute her!
I have been adding a few more squares also to the christmas lapghan though i doubt very much that this will get finished this side of Christmas,
there are 16 now!!
spot the bauble ones? another homemade creation hehe
And now for my bit of seriousness, and a story i have to share, I love my customers dearly (the nice ones hehe ) not all are nice, and for the past 3 1/2 years i have had the pleasure of serving a wonderful couple, they know me by name and say hello even if they don't wish to purchase from me as do a lot of regulars, but this particular gentleman has really moved me this year, Steadily his health has become more and more obviously poor, and now he comes in sporting his speedy wheel's ;) , A little nickname between us for the stores wheelchair, His family have noticed that he upsets me to see him the way he is but i get great comfort in knowing that his visit to say hello is one of his highlights of the week so.... i go out my way to greet him when he comes in and race him round the store to gather his favourite fruit and have a little chit chat, if and i say if we are not terribly busy, though my other collegues do know i will go out my way for him and generally take over so that i can have 5 minutes with him, Last week his son in law popped in alone and i asked where he was and he said it was a bit too cold for him with the ice etc totally understandable so a light bulb came on straight away.... you know what i was thinking don't you?
I said to him what's he's favourite colours hehe crafty i know he looked a little took back and said red and white arsenal colours ahh i said a footie fan of course, he preceded to say i'm not going to ask what your up too, cause your probably not going to tell me hehe so predictable haha
Nope i said but what's his usual shopping day when he does venture in lately as i've noticed he comes on different days, varies he said ahh but somehow he manages to catch me on my shifts so i gathered a plan together in my head, ahh ok i said i probably won't see him till next week then excellent, his son in law looked at me with that what you up to look and left hehe
What i'd been planning was to make him a little something hehe for when he comes to visit :)
On Friday he popped in with his wife and son-in law behind the speedy wheels and came straight to me as usual, to say hello ..... Amanda ..... " ooh hello i said how the devil are you ? his voice is getting harder to distinguish these days as he tries to tell me what he's been up to, After our little chat i said to him are you coming to see me next week? Have your photo took with me? Ooh he said yes i'll try to. i winked to his son in law and his wife who now know i'm planning on something they too know nothing about {so naughty hehe yes i said be something to look forward to won't it. me and you we'll have our photo took i'll bring my camera in special, So there we have it, i whispered to his family that i hadn't finished just yet but will be ready for his next trip , .> i'm hoping it's tomorrow :)
This is what i've made him in his favourite Arsenal colours
A lap blankie for his speedy wheels for when he travels to and from the shop :) think he'll like it?
Can't wait to present him with it, i think a tear or two will be shed that day. anyway take care each and every one of you i hope to post our pic next time and let you know how we got on xxxxx
