Cupcake pattern

voila le lil cupcake!!

For this sweet lil cupcake i used a 4mm hook and 100% dk stranded acrylic, i'm certain cotton will work equally well, i say this as i've made it in dk bamboo and it was too soft and didn't stand up too well ;)

this is made as a one piece and later adding the frill and topping

Round 1: using the magic ring method: wrap yarn around middle finger twice hook under  catch working yarn and pull through hook over the ring yarn over and pull through the stitch on hook,

work 6 single crochet into this ring join to first sc  and pull loose thread tightening the ring,ch 1

from here in join every round unless instructed otherwise to the gap between the chain 1 and the 1st sc

Round 2: make 2 sc into every stitch (12st) join then ch 1

Round 3 : work *1 sc into 1st stitch then 2 sc into next repeat from * (18st) join ch 1

Round 4 : *1 sc 1 sc 2 sc repeat *(24st) join ch 1 can you see the pattern forming here hehe

Round 5: *1 sc 1 sc 1 sc 2 sc * repeat (30st) join ch 1

were you getting used to that haha now we sc in every stitch for rounds 6 & 7 joining and chaining 1 as before (still 30 sts)

Round 8: *1 sc 1 sc 1 sc 1 sc 2 sc* repeat join ch 1 (36st)

Rounds 9, 10,  1 sc in every st this time joining with a sl st to first sc chain 1 (36st)

Round 11 join cupcake case yarn :) and sc every stitch in the back loop only

(the front loop is where we will add the frilly bit at the end) ;) join to first sc and chain 1

Round 12: *1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc, sc2tog* repeat  (30st) decreasing now:) join in the gap once more until further notice :) ch 1

Round 13: 1 sc in every st (30st) join ch 1

round 14: * 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc, sc2tog * repeat (24st) join ch 1

Rounds 15, 16, 17, 18 1 sc in every st join ch 1  (24st)

Round 19, this will be the base of the cake where it will sit nice. work in backloops again only for this round *1 sc, 1 sc, sc2tog* repeat (18st) join ch 1

now with that ch1 pull it so that it leaves a loop you won't loose in a hurry as this is where we stuff the cake with toy filling enough so its nice and firm and shaped nicely :)

you may tie off any loose ends before filling if you wish personally the cupcake is so tightly worked there's no need haha but each to their own :)

Round 20:  *1 sc, sc2tog* repeat (12st) join ch 1

Round 21 *sc2tog * repeat (6st) joining to first sc ch1 and fasten off leaving long enough tail to darn the cake closed  voila :)

with the same colour yarn as the case join to any front loop at round 11

secure (counts as 1st sc of 3 sc needed) work all around the front loops 3sc each till the end tie off

pretty frill now in place :0)

now for the icing!!

using the magic ring again secure with slip stitch work 6 sc into ring join to 1st sc pull tight loose end as before ch 1

round 2 : 1 sc 1 dc in every st so that you have (12 st total) join ch 1

Round 3 : 1 sc ~1 dc 1 sc ~ 1 dc ~ 1 sc 1 dc ~ x3 (18st) join ch 1

Round 4 : 1 sc 1 dc ~ 1 sc 1 dc ~ x6 (24st) join ch 1 fasten off leaving enough yarn to darn topping to cake turning work to wrong side so its all nice and bobbly

for the cherry

simply magic ring 6 sc and fasten off turning wrong side and sewing into place done!
